In a Single Binding

s212impolite

Spawn called; he wants his cape back.

...And yes, all you "Superman scholars" (bless your Cheeto-clogged hearts!), I know that it was "canon" for Kal-El's cape to possess elastic properties. For example, he used to muffle explosions with it. But this nonsense belongs in the "trap villains under a rapidly-expanding S-shield" category of inane powers that briefly materialize because the writer is bored and/or high.

Also, you'll note that although the Legion Rejects are all being crushed to death, they're drawn by a young Mike Grell, so their legs are still in that wide-open stance favored by baseball pitchers and the cast of "The Hills."

I just love how Calorie Queen is looking down at it like "Gee, I'd take a bite out of it, but he hasn't washed this since before the last time he played with Krypto!!!"

Yeah and what was up with that S shieldn huh?

And furthermore, when Superman was fighting the Kryponian villains in his fortress, Zod and his crew were firing fricking laser beams from their fingers. Since when can anyone from Krypton do that?

My (then) grade school mind figured that they must have been fibrating their arms at super speed to launch atoms from their own bodies at Supes. I dunno, that still seems lame to me.

Long-haired hippie Superboy always makes me wince.

Whoah, what about Superboy's legs? Did Mike Grell learn to draw from reading Plastic Man? Or Circus Freak Digest, maybe?

I think Micro Lad could have gotten away pretty easily there.
And being the lamest of the bunch, nobody would've missed him...

I feel kind of gypped that you didn't link to my post on the Mike Grell Extreme Stance when you had the chance, there. Where's the love?

Hey, isn't that the same cape that supposedly had a pocket concealing Supes' entire Clark Kent ensemble? Hey, anyone can be Super with a cape like that!

Of course, Grell characters stand that way because they are all extremely ("Super!") well hung. Even the women.

Little Known Fact: Every issue of the old LoSH with Superboy in it also has a stealth appearance by Plastic Man. Any time he'd go into the future Clark would pick up his buddy Eel. Both to watch his back against unwelcome Braniac5 passes and to help him score Space Hookers...

Comixbear: Not to mention, it apparently has the consistency of taffy, and would be a total BASTARD to get out of her teeth.

Jon: You're a more tolerant fellow than I, my friend!

Bill S.: There's a little touch of Elvis there, am I right? Which is also my problem with Captain Marvel, Jr. He just looks greasy and tacky. In fact, I may have to redesign him, someday!

Spazmo: BWAH! to the Micro Lad comment. As for Superboy's legs, it's a little-known fact that Kryptonian legs are triple-jointed. (As are their asses.)

Isaac: The love is on back-order. It's probably somewhere on a container ship docked in Hong Kong. But when it arrives... you'd better find something to brace yourself with, 'cause it's gonna ROCK YOUR WORLD! I'm just sayin'.

Sea of Green: So that means that Phantom Lad is wincing because Clark Kent's hornrims are currently gouging the bejeebus out of his balls.

Gustavo: I hope they all just Gold Boy Medicated Powder. For the inevitable chafing. (I know I do.)

Lurker: I know I've said this on your LiveJournal, but GODDAMN I'd love to read a comic written by you!

Apparently, Elvis based his persona on Captain Marvel, Jr.

About the new site banner, it doesn't fit. The right side of the image gets obscured by the frame, and I can't stretch the window enough to view the whole thing. You might want to scale the picture down a bit. Or possibly sacrifice a few goats to the HTML gods to fix it for you.

Thanks for the heads-up, Phil! The weird thing is, it looked just fine on my own computer. I replaced it with a 481-pixel wide version. That should work okay, I think, considering that Blogger gives the option of "shrinking to fit" headers to 511 pixels.

It's looking good now.
