Beware of Log

s183owwwwmmyarm

And thus begins the slow, painful end of Lana's superhero career. You're right, Superboy, she'd better be careful! If word of this gets out, criminals might start hoarding Lincoln Logs to chuck at her. Or worse yet, her arch-enemy could end up being the Floronic Man!

Gravity Girl Vulnerability Checklist:
1. Wood. Just like the Golden Age Green Lantern!

Hey look! Lana's giving Clark wood!

What? What? Why is everybody looking at me like that?

This works better in Gender-Reassignment-O-Vision. Gravity Guy would be a desperate stalker, futilely trying to impress the Jailbait of Steel with his inadequate powers, until his comeuppance, where it is proved -- once again -- that boys are a bunch of stinky dorks.

The real question is, what part of Gravity Guy's physique had to measure 21" to fit the alien artifact? Perhaps the name Lance Lang would be more fitting...

So wood isn't affected by gravity then?

If a tree falls in the forest, it does fall right?

A person, a colleague in pain?

You're right, Superboy; that's hilarious!

Bully: I think you need to treat yourself to a nice hot bubble bath, Bully... because you are positively filthy!

Dave: Heh. Well, I won't be drawing Gravity Guy quite like that. (And I'm guessing in that version "Professor Lang" wouldn't technically be his "daddy.")

Jon: You'd better get used to the plot holes, pal. This story is chock-full of 'em! And all in the service of an ending which is entirely contradicted by a good part of the story's middle.

Scipio: Kal-El: Superdick. The legend continues!

Would that this story would never end!

Two things...

1) Bully only highlights the underlying message that girls can wield power and have careers of their own... until a good piece of wood comes into their lives. But that was then, and comics today would NEVER feature such sexist subtext.

Text yes, subtext, hardly.

2) I must express jealousy at how you have deftly managed to make each panel of a single story into a worthwhile post. Big fan, big fan.

Bill S.: I sort-of agree, and yet THANK GOD it does.

Siskoid: 1) Sad but true, pal! 2) Thanks! And it's ain't easy, that's for sure! (Hence the recent "vacation.")
